Default Borgeson ISS

I recently purchased my 2005 RCSB and as I expected it had the common Chevy steering wobble. I replaced a bad ball joint and tie rod end and checked everything else and it all looks good. So I think it is the intermediate steering shaft as I have read that they are a common culprit for this problem. I have been searching for a solution to this problem and what I have come up with is this.

1- If I have it replaced with an OEM ISS it will just happen again in a year or so.
2-Buy a Borgeson ISS. According to some including 4WOR magazine it will fix the problem permanently. But according to some reviews I have read on Amazon they had the same problem come back in a year or so.

I am wondering how many of you guys have this problem, what you have done to fix it and is the Borgeson ISS worth it?

Steering wobble? The iss will just clunk. GMs fix is stuff it with grease and do it again if it comes back. Seen plenty of trucks with 200k+ with that clunk no problem. Mostly ranch trucks though. Now ive seen the borgeson shaft but have never installed one so cant help you on that.

What do you mean by steering wobble, like the steering wheel itself wobbles? If that's the case I would check your front wheels/tires for balance. Also could be the rag joint or the steering box getting worn out. I think there is an adjustment on the steering box to tighten things up some?

Its only a slight wobble on slow turns with bumps. The roads here are pretty awful. tires are only about a year old. Had alignment and balancing done after ball joint/tierod replacement. I haven't looked into a steering box adjustment. I was pretty certain it was the ISS because it definitely has the clunk. I plan to order the Borgeson ISS to fix the clunk anyway so if it still has the wobble after that then ill dive into the steering box.

Gotta start building the axles for my Ranger to so much to work on!

This might sound funny but how old are the shocks?

Well I haven't had the truck eve a full month yet but, it does have a fabtech lift on it that is almost rust free while the frame has a substantial amount more. Also they aren't leaking anything so my guess is that they aren't that old but maybe this weekend I will pull them off and check them.

I believe gm made a "fix" for this with a different shaft/part number. I ordered one a couple years ago for like $50 or so I believe, but never installed it yet bc the truck hasn't run until now. Might be worth a try before spending the big bucks on the borgeson.

We had a diesel truck show over the weekend I went to and i talked to some of the Dmax guys and a couple of them had bought the gm "Fix" part and said it did the same thing within a year or 2 and one guy had the Borgeson for just over 2 years and said its been perfect so far. I took a good look at the borgeson and ordered one it will be here tomorrow hopefully!

I had this issue. I crammed a **** ton of super thick Royal Purple grease up the steering tube. It has been a year without anymore issues.
