Default big 3 trannies

I know that the 4l60e doesn't really hold up to much performance wise and sometimes not even in stock form. What do the dodge and ford trannies hold up like and what are their names? (ie gm=4l60e...)

dodge has the 5R45E (I think thats it) and it seems to hold up better than the old Dodge trannies that just sucked, but I'm not sure of its perf. potential, though it is behind the Hemi and it seems to put up with that. Ford had the 4R70W in the F-150s, I've heard they're weak, but have actually never seen any proof that confirms or denies this, just word of mouth

How about manuals? Does dodge put a manual transmission behind their hemi's in 4wd's?

not in the 1500s, you can in the 2500 and 3500s, its a Getrag 6-speed manual, which I imagine is pretty stout, but I doubt it'd be good for performance use as most HD trans have looooooong sifter throws. Ford only offers a manual in the V6 and 4.6 V8 F-150s, Idon't know much about it, but I don't really care for Ford's manuals. They also offer a 6 speed manual in the super duty with all engines, but again it has real long throws between gears, not to mention it prob. weighs a ton...
