The stock ones are 2x as long and I had to cut them in half when I did the drop. The control arms are supposed to just kiss the stops, the stops are a part of the suspension. With the new bumpstops the downward travel is slowed in a controlled. manner Although I was ok with the stock stops cut in half these ride a lot better.

oooh ok . i removed my front bump stops because there were touching. i thought that would make it ride worse if they were touching. so should i put them back on then??

Here I found this.....(i love google search!)...

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...uck/index.html
As torsion rods have a very linear spring rate, bump stops are used to provide a more progressive spring rate as the suspension reaches the limit of its bump travel. Notice how the factory bump stop just contacts the lower control arm at stock height

the stock bumpstops cut to accomodate the torsion drop...

and again, the Belltech shortstops.

I need to do something about my bump stops up front too. I'm going to call up Belltech and see what they have for my year truck. Nice write up Bill.
