Default Bad Truck... Bad girl

No matter how much I scold her she still leaves me these little puddle after being in the garage awhile. Guess I'm going to have to fix it.

At least I found where its coming from today. The main electrical connector. When I got the 80e the connector had had some love knocks. It wasn't seated had been pushed in. It looks like the fluid is actually coming through the connector. Not around it. First thing I'm going to try is tearing into the connector itself. I didn't put back in a couple little plastic pins that were in there before. Maybe they are there to seal the thing?

Talking about the little pins circled in this picture.

Those plugs just keep water from getting into the connector. Sounds like a damaged connector on the trans. Might have to drop the pan.

Unless the plug in the unused VSS port above that is leaking??

There is an O-ring on that connector:

No biggie I think. I'd rather have a static leak like this opposed to a seal or something somewhere.

It isn't the above VSS. I haven't torn into it but thinking about buying a new harness for it. As I said before the the connector had been hit during shipping or something and driven back into the trans. Might have cracked something internal to it??? Dunno.

It doesn't appear the the leak is coming from around the connector... The o-ring you mention. Fluid is actually traveling through the connector and exiting at the harness end, traveling along the wires. Its actually dripping from the wires on the truck side wiring harness.

I think I'd just put a new harness in the trans. That will insure there is no small cracks or anything in the plug out it's self.

Yep, leaning toward just replacing the whole internal harness.

I agree on swapping the harness. Pretty reasonable to. Vince

Another vote for the harness replacement here, then you know that you're good to go

How much coin for the harness btw?
