Auto trans not shifting normal?

Auto trans not shifting normal?
I have a 99 GMC Sierra 4.8. Today for the first time the trans, did not shift out of 1st it reved high then pulled into 2nd. I continued to drive without a problem what seems to be going on? Did a search btw.
