Anyone using Jake's 4L80e Rebuild Kit?

Hey all, wondering how the Jake's Lvl 2 rebuild kit shifts? I only have experience with a factory 80e with a Transgo in it and that trans shifted awesome at WOT and part throttle 2-3 and 3-4 but the part throttle 1-2 shift was a little bit harsh. I'm wondering what a Jake's kit would feel like? I'll be having my local trans shop do the rebuild on a core I sourced.

Used a Jake's Stage III rebuild kit on my donor 80e. I have about 7,500 miles on it now & has performed flawlessly. No complaints.

How does it shift? Nice and firm or do you wish it shifted harder?

The shift firmness is really set by your tuner in the end. Mine had mine hitting pretty hard from 1-2 but I had him soften it up just a tad. I was chirping the tires everytime and it was just getting annoying. Still hits pretty hard but the tires don't chirp unless I want them to 😎

you should have talked to your tuner about that harsh part throttle 1-2.

Not running Jake's kit...

My tune had the stock upshift pressures and I had an annoying 1-2 tire chirp.

I pulled all the upshift pressure out, it still did it.

I had to modify the force motor table to get the shift firmness like I wanted.

Mine is a stock'ish rebuild with the internal dual feed mod done.

Transgo shift kit I assume? What did you drill the separator plate to

No idea tbh. After I sourced my 80e and that went south, I took it to a local guy. My only request was the internal dual feed mod and with whatever else he did, I don't have any issues out of it.

The local guy sourced his own core and built it. I know he used BW clutches in it.

He wouldn't use your old core?

Nope. It had 10miles on a fresh build and all I could get from it was limp mode.

It did it before and after the rebuild. We suspected a cross leak some where.
