Another 4L80E swap 4x4 front driveshaft
Hey guys, Sorry for bringing this up but it seems there is a a lot of confusion, or maybe its just me, as to what the correct front shaft is when doing the 4L60 to 4L80 4x4 swap..
My old shaft is 15182095.. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psgifo9oou.jpg Its slightly over an inch too short... http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psk2fnbu8z.jpg and it also seems a bit too thick as it doesn't clear the shift linkage off the trans.. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...pske1u4r9q.jpg from reading on here I find that most have used the 15182094 shaft... One thing I find confusing is the measurements of both shfts off that excel sheet posted in another thread... it basically states that the 15182095 shaft is 30.75 center to center and 26 1/8 weld to weld. compared to the 15182094 shaft shows it as 30.76 center to center and 27 1/4 weld to weld.. that is were my confusion is... how can the weld to weld be longer and yet the longer center to center measurement be pretty much the same??? what about the circumference? |
I don't remember the part number off hand, but I used one from a 05ish 2500 5 speed truck and it fit like stock after my 4l80e swap.

wow.. surprised no one else had anything to say?... is there another forum that is busier than this one? There doesn't seem to be much movement here most of the time...

In case anyone cares...
here is a pic of the 4l80 driveshaft vs the 4l60 shaft http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psvsjy9tdg.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psjehapcmn.jpg |
Where did you end up getting it?
|
LKQ large wrecking yard chain.. 60 bux plus tax...
|
Off of a duramax?
|
Don't know...I had them look it up by part number.. the GM part number..and then went for a golf cart ride to the back.. there was no engine in it.. but I don't recall seeing any duramax emblems or anything like it.. as a matter of fact the shaft was in the bed of the truck...
|
Cool, what was the part number?

Here is the part you need. It's what I'm using for my eventual 4l80e swap. Attachment 156624 |
