Default aluminum control arms and aluminum spindle from 2014-2018 1500

has anyone tried putting aluminum spindles, upper and lower control arms from a 2014 Silverado/Sierra on their 2007-2013? some places specify that their control arms will fit 2007-2018 Silverado/Sierra. would be cool if there was an easy way to drop some weight from the front end.

Yes, you can even get an aluminum GM knuckle from a specific model.

Look up Ugly Truck, Tolmanperformance used them.

I've seen that video. It's an awesome truck. Ugly truck is 2 wheel drive. It's also like a 2001ish. Mine is a 2013. I don't think the nnbs stuff will work with nbs and vice versa. I'll watch the episode again. He also has the 4 wheel drive truck that I think he put the aluminum spindles on. I just haven't seen anything that has all aluminum control arms and spindles. I might have to just settle in mostly aluminum stuff.

Thats the AWD chassis he is building for the new version of the project. Those are 4x4 spindles from 2014 up truck. The aluminum knuckle only came on the 4x4 with an aluminum upper control arm that has a larger balljoint.

the 2014 4x4 with the aluminum spindles and the aluminum upper control arm will work on a 2013? I assume you mean oem as well. I've been waiting for LT to start on the 4x4 ugly truck since he started on it several years ago. I got all excited because building an extended cab truck for drag racing is not near as common or popular. a guy would think there would be more of them due to the larger volume that are still around.

I have a 2002 Silverado extended cab and a 2013 quad cab. the 2013 would be the logical one to build because it already has a 14 bolt rear end, 6L80 and 6.2 engine. the drawback is that it weighs 500 lbs more than the 2002. it probably only weighs 400 lbs more because I just replaced the tires with some normal weight tires that aren't 10 ply. it's a nicer truck all around.

Thanks for your help.

He is giving away the original 2wd Ugly truck on his channel through merchandise sales.

The version 2 ugly truck, I
believe that chassis is finished and he has the cab and sheet metal on it. I think the motor is finally pretty close to being wrapped up.

There is a thread in this section that talks about the arm and knuckle swap. K2xx aluminum arms and Knuckle on GMT 900 truck. A few guys said they done it. But no one posted pictures of it...
they said the aluminum arm has a larger baljoint that has to be used with that knuckle. The steel arm is smaller and won't work.

All the keyboard worries have to move to places like Fake Book where they can be the post hero and impress people with **** they dont have on projects they dont own.

It just happens I have been here for so long and for some reason remember stuff like this.

I was wrong, it was in the K2xx section not the drivetrain section. But other than that no one has posted Photos that I am aware of of the actual swap. Just the few people that say they have done it and it works.

it's all good. I appreciate the help. I'm not sure when I'm going to do the swap. right now the idea is to use the aluminum spindle from the 2014 and an aluminum lower control arm from the 2007-2013. I haven't decided on upper control arm for sure. I'm not really trying to lower or lift anything I just want to cut weight.
