this is a friend of mines 03' gmc. trans lost forward gears and the abs light came on along with battery not charging message. looked at it today and the abs light is the only thing lit up on the dash and it only has reverse. anybody got any ideas?

 

Sounds like the tranny took a crap, and an abs sensor is acting up.

 

Check the grounds. For all that stuff to fail at the same time something's come undone.
