Default 80E crossmember

Anybody have any specs on the difference between the 60E, and 80E crossmembers. I can get ahold of a stock crossmember, and would like to modify it to fit an 80E "just in case"

all you have to do is cut off the mount, flip it around so it faces the rear of the truck, and slot the bolt hole and your all set.

I used a crossmember for a 3/4 ton truck, drilled the frame rails right behind the stock crossmember mounts, cut the box off of it, shortened it by about an inch and moved it forward, bolted it in, looks good to me.

As long as you aren't changing between 2wd and 4wd, it's just a matter of welding a plate and some gussets. I don't know the dimensions exactly, but Parish may still remember them for 4WD (as I recall he was the first to do this). I think he welded a 3 inch plate on and gusseted it.

I'll try to remember to post pics of mine. I just finished mine this weekend. I cut the entire center hump section, moved it back about 6 1/2 inches as stated above and got some 4" X 10" X 1/4" plate and welded everything back together. Everything is plently strong and I still have access to drop the tranny pan if I ever need too. Kind of hard to explain without pictures. I'll try to remember about the pics. tonight.

Sorry for the delay. I snapped a few pics tonight. Not the best pictures but you can kind of get the idea. Let me know if you want more details. Comparred to the $300 cost for a new one, I think I did pretty good being that I'm only in mine for $10 (the cost of the 4" X 10" X 1/4" plates).
