Default 80E Conversion on 02 Z71 Tahoe

I'm tired of breaking hard parts in my 60E behind my NA LQ9. Looking to boost another motor for this thing, but wanting to swap to an 80E before hand. I have a lifted 4wd duramax I use for offroading and wouldn't mind losing 4wd all-together if it makes life easier. Anyone going from 4WD to 2WD with an 80E?

Thanks in advance!

Tony

I'm fixing to be doing the exact same swap in mine and I'm planning on keeping the 4x4. Only thing that should be any more difficult is getting the driveshafts lengthened.

Considering that you are planning on having MORE power on LESS wheels, I would really not recommend it.

I'd have no problem adding cal-tracs to the setup with a softer tire. This thing dead hooks as is, but could be due to the lower stall and the larger cam killing low end grunt.

Do you currently have a 1 piece of 2 piece drive shaft? If you want to convert you could always just get a 2wd 80e and the right driveshaft and just not reinstall the transfer case...

Might be shifting too hard if you are breaking hard parts. I'm still rocking my stock 60e with a shift kit, big cooler and servos and making around 500rwtq.

I have a 1 piece driveshaft in it. 100% factory for an 02 Z71 Hoe.

I have hardened input/output shafts now, beast shell, upgraded sprag, bands, clutches, servos, shift kit, big cooler. I'm in this stupid 60E for over 4k and getting tired of breaking crap when I'm not even making big power!
