Default 700r4 help needed!!

Ive been working on a 93 k1500 with a 700r4 that wont pull itself in ANY forward gear but has a very solid reverse. Ive checked pressure and its at about 75-80psi in P-N with no flucuation, 130-140psi in reverse once it settles down but around 180psi when engaging, and flucuates between 85-70psi in drive couldnt get it into D3-D2-D1 cuz of the pressure gauge hose will try again later. This thing has been rebuilt numerous times, has a mix and match of shift kits and has had the spacer plate modified, with most of the accumulator springs replaced with spacers that I know of. Any ideas on where to look on what might be causing this before I pull it???

What year is the 700r4? Are you sure that you have the check ***** in the right locations? Also are you using a aluminum forward clutch piston?

its in a 93 model , it has the electric lock-up TC ....honestly I couldnt tell you about the checkballs or the forward clutch piston since I havent been into it yet.. after the last rebuild he said it worked great for awhile then it started to lose 1st gear and eventually lost all forward gears but still has strong reverse. I guess it looks like time for an autopsy, I was just needing some info on what to look for once I get in there.

The first thing you might want to do is get a ATSG book for the 700r4. It sounds as if you have a broken forward clutch piston. These can be upgraded to the steel bonded pistons that come in the 4l60e transmissions.

awesome!! well not for him anyways..thanks Vince. Ive got the GM 4l60 (700r4)manual and have been through GM ASEP but dont have any "real world" auto trans experience other than typical dealership repairs which anymore is just R&R work.
