Default 6L80 temperature control unit

Anybody here modified this temp control unit so it allows continues flow of trans fluid to cooler instead of using thermostat to control flow?
Any negative issues modifying this temp control unit?
What are the best operating temps of a 6L80?

I removed the t-stat and spring and I made a bunch of bypass plugs for the 14-up 6l80's with the maggie and a 2500 Circle D at 10psi and running it hard never seen 200 yet even in 90+ degree heat and i am in Central Mississippi. It's basically a button head screw cut to length ( length is Critical) with the cut end rounded to a ball end. Sold probably 50-60 so far.
