I realize anything can be done with any amount of money, I just wish there was something affordable, or someone like speed-engineering designed a kit or something.

I seen a guy who did it all himself. He put a T56 in a 5.3 Silverado. Extremely nice truck. I think I've seen him here or in another forum... can't remember. http://members.aol.com/BHowe79/02Silverado/Index.htm

Yes, thats me!! I think a 6 speed Tahoe would be cool as hell. I have to admit I wish I have the auto when I take the truck to work and get stuck in rush hour. Really think about?! I only drive the truck about 50 miles a week if that, maybe 20 miles. Just when it is nice and not rush hour. i love shifting though!!

While not a Tahoe, the Avalanche is similar...basically a Suburban without the back row seats. There are at least 2 6-speed manual transmissions on http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php that I know of...one of them is mine. The 2 trannies are 4wd and can pull 26000#...zf s6-650.

If I had a sports car, then yes, the manual would be the "only" way to go for me.
To each his own when it comes to opinions. If this Tahoe was a daily driver, then I would direct him towards a new 6-speed auto that will be coming in the new Tahoes.

or get good an not have to use the clutch to shift, i use to do it in my car until people told me it was iffy and a trans rebuild is about a grand so i decided to stop. Aprreciate if someone who knew forsure if it hurts them or not could chime in

If done right there is no harm, but even the best can't get it perfect each time and when you are off a little it puts extra loads on the synchros (blockers) and can have a small amount of grind which rounds the teeth on the synchros, slider hub and gear.
