...I'm looking to buy a 5 speed 5.3 RCSB truck and will want to replace the 5 speed with a T56 in order to help gas mileage on the freeway. Anyone done this yet? I'm assuming it wouldn't be that hard. Anyone have any input on this subject and any before/after mpg figures? Thanks!

1TrueSS here on the board did. Seems to be working pretty well for him. Didnt look too difficult to me, just time consuming. I know theres some others that have swapped too.

6gear also did the swap. You will only be able get a 5 speed truck with a 4.8L.

 

Oh that sucks. Well either way it should be a decent truck and the the t56 is a better tranny than the 4l60e. Thanks!

VortecSierra- you are in waco? you done anything to that truck, or is it stock?? cause if it aint we need to run to temple/academy and cut down the rice population.
