4x4 to 2wd

Just out of curiousity (and possible future plans
), if one was to remove their 4x4 components (transfer case, front diff/axles, install 2wd hubs, etc.), how would they go about keeping the "service 4wd" light off? Could the BCM be re-flashed, or could it be replaced with a BCM out of a 2wd? How about the PCM, is there any info in there that would have to be modified?
(If my truck ever becomes a toy/project only, I may convert it to 2wd to lose the weight and drop it without worries of cv joint issues

Thanks for the responses guys...this project won't be happening any time soon, unless something in the 4wd system breaks, then I'll be yanking it. Another question...will the driveshaft need to be changed, and what needs to be done to the trans?
*EDIT*...I'm thinking about those hubs possibly Parish...now my wheels are turning.

the tranny is a prety big deal if you want to get rid of the tcase. you have to change the output shaft and tail housing. then get a longer drive shaft and probably tweek the tranny mount.
