DO NOT RUN 4x4 hubs w/o the bolt and spline part of the cv axle
THATS WHAT HOLDS THE HUB TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!
you can put 2wd spindles right on the 4x4 spindles they are the same bolt pattern and spacing (you might want to fab up a plate to cover the rear of the hub though) the 4x4 spindles are sealed in the rear by the cv and the 2wd's are cast closed for moisture free operation
the upper balljoints are the same but the lowers press in on the 4x4's and bolt in on the 2wd's i do not know if they are the same taper and shank i could find out at work tomorrow if you need to know
i also know the 2wd spindles are alot shorter than the 4x4's so your balljoint angles will be out of whack (probably snap one off pulling the front wheels :p)

Maybe you can help me?
On a 2004 Chevy 1500 Z71 (4wd) that has a bad transfer case. The previous owner converted it to 2wd by leaving the spline in the 4WD hub.
My nephew let the bearing go bad (destroyed the bearing and the rotor was eating the caliper frame) to the point it damaged the spindle and wheel nut.
I was hoping that since the chevy 1500 LT (2WD) uses the exact same wheel hubs on the back the Z71 uses on all four wheels.... that I could use the 2wd wheel hubs that the 1500 LT uses on the front and put them on the front of the 1500 Z71. The dimensions are different because there isn't a spline going through it so I didn't know how to compare them. I have no idea if it will work. Do you Know?

I bought an 94 gmc pickup with 4wd and wanted to know how easy would it be to swap to 2wd while doing an LS swap trans as well. And about a 3-4 inch drop too.
