Default 4L80E wasted flexplate, common???

Wasted a flexplate on my near stock 6.0 lq9. Is this a common problem?? What other than the stocker will fit ?? ls2 truck? vette? Something good out there on the aftermarket?
Even if this is not common, I'd like to beef up a little with a 403 going in.

TCI makes a pretty thick one. You'll need longer than stock TC bolts.

Yeah TCI makes a nice aluminum heat treated one. I have one on order for my 80e swap. I too would also like to know how you did it.

Cracked in a hexagon shape around the crank bolts. All the way around, and then spun and wedged back into itself. Truck was still driving when shutdown, but knocking loudly (flywheel vs. oil pan). When engine pulled, was able to spin in reverse of engine rotation, and removed by hand. Just dropped in the new stroker, with a TCI 399753 flexplate, and seems the bolt circle is to small at the converter. When done cursing, I'll have to crawl back under and double check this bolt circle trouble, before pulling back out.

I have done that a couple times, back when I was using the Midwest torque converter. It didn't have a long enough snout to engage the crank spacer and center everything up. The stock 6 liter flywheel is a decent piece-thicker than the 5.3 stuff.

Well it was a stock 6.0 plate that failed on me. Everything stock as built when it failed. Someone out here on the forum page mentioned being a gm tech., and stated that they replace a lot of them. Said that the key to the whole mess was the 4l80E having less slippage and a firmer shift than the other stockers. Guess now I have to decide. More dollars for a converter with the right bolt circle, or return the plate, and take a chance on another stocker ??
