Sounds like a busted overdrive roller clutch.

Did the input shaft have the o-ring installed on it? Don't ask why I ask this. It will keep the converter from locking and it may feel like it is slipping.

Testing seems to have proven that lockup works properly.

If this cage is not set properly in the over run drum you will have the same results as what you have going on here. Or also a sealing ring was cut on the stator when the pump was installed. If I were the builder I would most definitely want to go back through the unit to make sure all of the assemblies are correct. Also to make sure that the shift kit was installed properly.

Does this condition also happen in all shifter positions? Manual 1st, 2nd, D.....

Based on the fact that you said it does not slip in the manual positions your issue is in the one way clutch as I said. Good luck getting it all sorted out and it sounds like your builder is headed in the correct direction.

Well, got my trany back in the car. You were right, a one way roller assembly (round plastic cage with metal rollers) was installed incorrectly. All gears work great ,Success!!! Well not exactly. Know I have a subtle noise that sounds like a marble rolling around a glass jar and Only while in a gear. Moving or not, doesn't seem to matter. Anyone care to take a stab. Appreciate it

Does it do it in gear in all ranges while sitting still? If you are sitting still I would suspect an issue with the converter, pump or flex plate. Keep in mind while stopped in gear the internals of the trans are not moving. Just the ones I have listed above.

Yes. All gears sitting still. We are going to put it on a lift to better isolate the noise. No other trans internals but pump moves while in gear sitting still? this noise was not their before pulling the trans the last time.
