Default 4l80e swap dimensions for crossmember..

I've measured the distance from the front of the trans to the mounting bolt that goes to the crossmember at 30 5/8". TCI is listing the same distance on the 60e as 23 19/32". That means that my crossmember mounting bolt needs to move back roughly 7". Yet, the number I always seen thrown around is 6 1/4" ??? Can anyone elaborate on this?

Im aware the best way to do this is to physically put the trans in and cut/weld the x member on the spot, but I can't weld so Im going to have the x member fabricated before hand, which is why I need these precise measurements.

6.25 will work. Im not sure why its off. One note is that the cross member has a one inch slot for the stud. Perhaps the 60 mounts towards the front of the slot, and that location is being moved. Im not sure.

Gotcha. I figured it was slotted, but I wasn't sure until I got up under there and checked.

I still think it's odd though that 6.25" was chosen as the length to move it back since the actual bolt goes back 7".

another note. the rubber bushing and tranny stud, or whatever you phrase it, can be turned around. When I first put back together two weeks ago it wouldnt work. Spun the rubber mount around and it fit fine. I believe it made it too long for the crossmember. 80e

Are you saying that the rubber mount wasn't fully seated on the crossmember or that the stud was too far back? Im assuming you moved your crossmember back 6.25?

ehh. I moved mine back right at 6.00. The stud that sticks out of the rubber mount was sitting too far towards the back of the slot of the member. t

Well, I'm glad you replied......I'm glad that there is some play in the distance you can move things back. I was really trying to measure precisely lol, guess it doesn't have to be spot on. Depending on the measurements I take on my truck as to where the 60e's stud sits, I'll probably move the crossmember back about 6.75"
