Or have a buddy rev the engine for you. Or if you have tuning software you could command throttle/RPM while under the car.

Could be wrong but even at idle shouldn't the pressure be higher than 40psi?

Yes it should, and it should change as i shift from P to R or D.

Having a buddy rev it would be nice, but last night no one was around and that's the last opportunity I had before middle of next week at the earliest.

75-80 at idle is what I'm used to seeing.

Something isn't right Rob. You obviously already know that. I think the trans needs to come out so you can pull down the front pump, etc. I don't think it's a valve body or pressure relief problem. Just my 2 cents buddy, hope you get it figured out.

The pump mod is not required.

That spring in your pump should not be the issue. I myself prefer to run that spring but based on those I have discussed it with its not a show stopper by any means. That spring is for the converter limit valve, it ups the pressure to the converter for lockup. This would not cause your issue of the slipping.

Alright, so as a quick update the truck was brought to a shop yesterday who is going to test line pressure, and hook it up to a gauge to see if its the pressure solenoid that's not receiving the correct signal.

I should have more info this afternoon and I hope its something simple thats related to the HD2.
