Hell of a time to build a transmission with the US in pandemic mode lol.
I had some time to work with the clearances more last night and got it at .038. I did this by using the wave plate, 2 of the new .090 steels and my old .077 steels that we’re left over. I feel like the clearance is good but I have mixed feelings on keeping the used steels in there. Is there a way to clean them up without losing a lot of clearance? I’ve got a feeling that I’ll need a belt sander to do this too though. I thought about improvising with an orbital but we’ll see.
Well today was the first day of the “Stay-At-Home” order here in KC. The railroad is still in full swing so thankfully I’m still going to work.
I finished up the internals of the Jakes kit and am doing the VB. Only thing really holding me back now is I previously had an HD2 kit (dark times compared to this kit) and drilled the hole between 14 and 47 but I didn’t do the hole for the relief valve assembly.
I’m sure I need to close this up and I know 47 is a void area but I’m not sure if I can fill the little pocket with JB weld or if it needs to stay open and I’ll have to find a way to fill the partition. I tried searching other forums fill with little success in how to undo this. So I’m hoping you guys have some ideas or know something I don’t on this.
Thanks and stay safe. It’s a mad world out there lol
