Well, I guess this is going to be what I'll be doing this weekend. I'm getting the 40k cooler and new lines from trans to cooler to make sure there is no problem with the flow. The trans always takes a while to get hot, but when it does, shutting the truck down is the only thing to let it cool. I'm really starting to think that there is a problem somewhere in one of the lines. I had the same issue with the 4l60e too.

Well I have been having problems with my tranny over heating. What would cause it to run hot? Ever since the fresh rebuild, converter back from Performabuilt, New cooler, it runs at about 200 without getting into the throttle. Tomorrow I am going to take a line off, and see if it is flowing. Can anyone think of why this is happening?

checked the filter?
R&R it it and see if that helps.
Also get a GM filter or a Wix filter.

vince mentioned something not long ago about the lower end filters giving people problems.

I put a Circle D converter in it, and my temps are now at about 170. I am going to get another tranny cooler.

If you need 2 40k coolers, you might have another problem!
