I do not believe the 80e and 60e dipsticks are the same.

I'm using the 60e one w/my 80e, and while it works and I THINK the level is reading correctly, it doesn't lock on the tube like it did with the 60e.

I picked up the dipstick tube 15832205 and it looks like its the right one for the 80E, the bends conforms the bellhousing like its meant to be there. I tried my 60E dipstick in it and worked, but as mentioned with it locked I can still pull it out, but I do think it seals okay. Not sure if the stock 60E dipstick and tube are like this, I can try it later today.

As for the level being correct, I haven't the slightest clue.

But my 60E dipstick 15709999 comes up as the same part number as 15183801.

I did my 80E swap about a month ago and bought a new tube and dipstick for the 80E, the tube fits perfect to the 80E and I checked the dipsticks and they were exactly the same

Same as your 60E dipstick? What year is your truck?

I bought PN 15832205 for mine. which GM is telling me is out of a 2005 2500 HD 6.0 with 4l80e.

When he looked up the actual dipstick it was the same PN between both trucks

15832205 is for the tube, which I have already. I'm curious about the dipstick itself whether or not my 60E will work (and read correctly).
