Default 4l80e from a 6.5

I located a 4l80e 4wd from a 97 Chevy 1 ton that was behind a 6.5 diesel. I know on hydraulically controlled transmissions the valve body needs to be swapped out because it relys on springs to shift. Since this trans is electronic, should I be able to use this valve body?

I know I am going to lose the top bell housing bolt but there are others who have done an older 4l80 into a newer ls truck. And being that it's a 97 has the correct harness plug and should have a neutral safety switch on the side.

So will that valve body work?

Yes, the valvebodies are the same between diesel and gas.

your not gonna have the threaded bolt holes for the PN safety switch.. but yes it bolts up and will run.. just gonna have to build a small bracket for the switch.

Just use longer pan bolts, and make an "L" bracket on top of the pan rail.

How about this???
1997 Chevy Suburban 4L80e Transmission Swap Shifter Cable Bracket Photo 7

BTW that bracket shown is a factory GM part that is around $8 through a GM dealer. Other shops are selling it for around $20

GM part number 15013290

It should be the same bracket as your 4L60E if not at least you have the part number.

No need to make a bracket. The 97-98 case has the bosses for the switch.
