Default 4l80E 2wd to 4wd

Im lookin to upgrade to an 80e but the price around me for a 4wd trans is outrageous compaired to 2wd and all 4wd's have excessive amount of miles. So my question is execpt for the output shaft and adding the transfer case mount, what would all have to be changed to make it 4wd. I already had plans to rebuild one when I get it and put a shift kit in also. So if anyone has some info or possibly a link to what would need to be done I would greatly appreciate it.

Did you install the lube orifice seal in the back of the case? If not you will have issues with the extension housing bushing. Just figured I would point his out. Also 97 and up units use an output shaft without a lube hole in them. So you guys need to be careful when doing this kind of stuff. Good luck with your conversions. Vince

No you should be fine with the correct output. I would make sure to get a gasket kit and make sure to check the bushings while you in the unit. As always make sure the clutches are good and go from there. Vince

I want to do the same swap I have a 99 5.3 with autotrac I want to put a 80e in it with my 6 liter. I have a 96,99,&03 4l80e but they are all 2wd I prefer to use the 03 which came with the 6.0. Fabricating crossmember isn't a big deal to me its getting the transfer case bolted up properly . Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
