Default 4l80 swap issues (cont)

So got the trans in and running, but its not running correctly. Put it in reverse or drive warm and it'll die like the converter is locking and pulling the engine down. When I can get it to move it feels like its a manual and I am slipping the clutch the whole time. It seems to be better cold, as I was able to take it around the block and make a log. Not sure if anyone can look at it but it looks odd to me. TCC slippage rpm and %.

Fresh built trans with HD2, and Circle D 2600-2800 278 converter. Speartech harness with segment swap.

Truck has been down for two weeks, and I'm getting a bit frustrated.

Thanks for any help!

Can anyone tell me what the converter slippage should be or the slip rpm?

It could be related to the problem I spoke about in the other thread.
Did you install the shift kit?

No all the work was done by a local tranny shop. What I am getting is I need to have the pressures checked, would that be the next place to go?

Yes, pressure check would be good. See what it is at idle and in the upper RPMs.

Well got a call from the tranny shop today saying it was fixed. So I go down and pick it up, the guy said they found some "abrasive" in the valve body that was causing the valves to hang up.

So hop in it, and at first seems to be ok, not great but ok. Get off the freeway and start to chug a little and seem to be slipping in 1st then it would grab. By the time I got into my neighborhood it stalled at a stop, then multiple times after. I looked up info on the internet for about an hour and went out to scan and the temps were in the 190's after sitting and then taking it around the block rose to around 208 and it smells hot.

What would cause these kind of temps? I dont really want to drive it anymore and hurt anything. Seems "ok" cold, after it warms up its junk.

What could be causing this?

I am just using the factory cooler, which I know I should upgrade it but currently its just a 4.8 with a cam. The factory should be enough to keep it under 210 with 30 minutes of driving shouldn't it?

Factory coolers will push 240 degrees with any amount of stall. If it's slipping you have bigger issues afoot, including loss of clutch material (abrasive).

With a 2200 stall and factory cooler I was routinely seeing 250* on my previous 60E.

Sounds like the builder dropped the ball. Get them to go back through it and trash the HD2 seperator plate and the pressure relief valve junk. Find Blackgmc's built by me 80e thread and use the mods he did to his trans. If your builder isnt familiar with a performance built 80e(mine wasn't) find one who is.

What does the rear tranny line fitting look like?

Does it look like this long one?
