With the low 1st gear and the overabundance of low end torque, it will just blow through 1st. I do wish I were turning a couple of hundred rpm’s less on the highway as well, but overall it’s not bad, I’m turning about 2300rpm or so at 70mph and still only 2500rpm at 80mph. Now if I had a 4L80 with a higher 1st and better overall gear spacing, I’m sure I would like the 4.56’s better, but then I would end up turning a little higher rpm on the highway. It’s almost a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation, especially with a supercharged 6.0. However with a smaller less torque’y motor, I wouldn't hesitate at all to run a deeper gear. I know we all look at one another’s set-up’s to get ideas, but in reality everyone’s combination is different and as such will have to be looked at individually.

I have a friend that has a 4.8 equipped SCSB with cam on a 110cl that is in terrible need of a converter, but he chose to do gears 1st, going from 3.23’s all the way to 4.56’s and as you can imagine it helped his take off’s immensely and at least made it half-*** enjoyable to drive again.

4:56s should help you since your magnacharger ( i would think ) if youre putting the horsepower down, ( lots of torque ) then a stall and gears would be your friend the problem would be figuring how to get it to hook.. full slicks on the track and a goos suspension and you'll have lower numbers foresure

Aren't you guys afraid that the smaller pinion gear will break with all this power?

FI likes taller gears to have something to "pull" against. If I had a magnacharger I would have 3.42s or 3.73s.
