4.56 w/ 305's

What do you guys think it's best for torque I have plenty but there's always room to improve. I have 3.73 and 305 mud tires I don't go off road just driving highway. I'm planning to put 315's on soon with is a 34.6 I believe.

Best for torque is the lowest gear you can make...but that might suck for gas mileage
4.56s are a good all around gear for 35s, some guys do 4.88s without much thought. Since you do mostly highway at least 4.10 but 4.56s are a good medium.

I had 33x12.50s and 4.56s it was great I did average 10.2mpgs but its FBO and 3k stall truck. Highway was around 12mpg. I now have 34.5x11.50 and averaged 10.6 MPG was getting 11.2 MPG, but when the new tire thing wore off I was driving it hard and mpgs went back down. Oh well I didn't do all of these mods for MPGs anyways. IMO 4.56s with 33s and 4.88 with 35s!

Alright thanks guys what about lockers I have the g80 posi unit but I heard it's a slow engage unit and sense I'm going to get that smelly oil on me doing the gears I might as well do the locker. I've heard trutrac it's good but I just want to get done more opinions first. I want something that doesn't require additives, wont chirp when I turn and is tough. I don't have deep pockets so keep that in mind. What do y'all think?

i have a detroit tru trac with yukon 4.10 gears in my truck running a 275 55 20 and i have had no issue with mine. quiet operation and locks when i need it. give randys ring and pinion a call they set me up with a master overhaul kit with shims, the tru trac, and the gears for right around 900 shipped to me. it was a learning curve to get it shimmed right but was worth learning to do yourself.
