Default 373's to 410 or 456's

I am going with some better gears soon and a detroit true trac. If I go from 373s to 410 will I be pleased or should I go to 456's My trucks motor will remain stock for a while. A stall and headers tune and slicks are next. I only use this truck at the track and very little cruzing.

I'd go 4.56's. i had the same dilemna of going from 3.73.s. but im very happy with my 4.56's. you might look into a set of 4.30's as well.

At the track I'm shifting into 3rd just before the traps I was thinking the better gears should improve alot. What if any were your improvements. Thanks

I went from 3.73's to 4.10's in my Avalanche and was very pleased. Remember also that with a 8.5" rear end you will have a pretty weak pinion gear with 4.56's, so if you plan on modding later for power you should take this into consideration.

Keep the gears. Add LSD if you need to. Gears maybe be good for a few tenths if power levels are the same before and after. Look at adding power before you switch gears.

OK I will get the converter, headers and exhaust, and tune before gears I already have the factory locker, and post my gains hopefully before the track closes for the season, which is 2 weekends from now. Otherwise its wait till springtime. (EDIT) Aw heck Stainlessworks is a month out for the headers and exhaust so It will be springtime.

Default where to get gears

I have used (DTS) DriveTrain Specialists There are lots of others who sell gears and diffs. I compare prices and go with who's selling the same part for the best price.
