Default 3.73 to 4.56

Well I bit the bullet and ordered 4.30 gears today. I am currently running 3.73's and my best NA time so far has been 13.24 @ 102. I am hoping the 4.30 will get me into the 12's NA. I ordered caltracs a few weeks ago and will probably get them all in at the same time. Looking for opinions, will the gear hurt my MPH. Right now its running through the traps at like 4600 rpm. I know the gear will get me up a little higher in the R's at the trap, but will this probably drop be back below 100 mph mark in the 1/4? I am hoping this will get my 60 ft. down a little, right now I'm running 1.8's What do you guys think? I am going to slide in a bigger cam next spring and will definatly need then gear then. Thanks for looking...

I really hope it gets you in the 12s N/A. As I've said in PMs, it really baffles me that you aren't already in the 12s. Only thing I can think of is maybe the 258mm converter isn't a great performer at the track N/A? Weather of course too....we've had some sick DA's this weekend, damn close to sea level. Too bad I'm broke and cant afford rims/slicks right now I'm gonna at least run my PT3600 on slicks once before I call Dave and see what he has to say about switching to a big 245 SS series.

I took your advice and cranked my shift times up from 6200 to 6700. I am pretty sure this gear is gonna give me the boost I need, crossing the line at 4600 isn't helping. I've been looking all over this site since we had our last conversation through pm, and there are very few examples of really any truck on here running twelves with stock heads and as mild of a cam as I have now. I think its doing fine for what I have in it now. When the donkey dick cam goes in I will probably be doing a CNC'd set of heads also, then it may live up to the internet hype...:nunchuk1:

Yea, the higher shift point should help put you more in the powerband in the next gear. I recently raised mine to 6800 1-2 and 6600 2-3 for daily driving. I'm curious to see how that will change things up at the track. Zippy told me these LQ9s can handle 7000-7200 rpm all day long, so I'm not worried about it.

if not mistaken dark halo ran stock heads and was running 12.2x last time we ran against each other, he then suddenly disappeared.

the PT3600 what size stall is that? also where does it flash at? you seem to have a nice setup, deffinately need it dynoed to figure out where your powerband is. if you cant put it to the ground the gears wont help as much

oh yeah, lsx motors have bob weights on the crank, with proper hardware they can spin to the moon. One of my buddies is running a NA carbed 6.0 with L92's stock crank and rods diamond pistons and he spins it to 8500 between shifts with zero issues...

do you have any dyno graphs on your truck. the gear could actually get you some more MPH if it gets you into the right range. something has to be up though. my LS1 with stock cam and 2600 converter knocked off consistant 12.2's in an extended cab. what cam are you running?

Yeah but your DA down there is on average 2000 ft. better then where I run... I have seen a good DA drop 3 tenths on cars up here...

Jaws Just Emailed me and told me their 4.30 gear is on national back order, go figure.
So I told them to send me a 4.56, I know its not a big jump but did I go to deep???

I really liked the idea of running 74 mph at 2500 in OD... I will be just short of that now.
Plus with me 4l60e's low 1st gear is 4.56 gonna get me outta first gear to quickly?
