Default 2wd conversion

hey guys

i have a 2004 tahoe with a 4/6 drop and the front diff has sprung some leaks from the insanse drive shaft angles. i have only ever used 4wd once so i dont really need it i was wondering if anyone has a write up on how to remove it? i know how to pull the front diff, axles, t case, install a 2wd case extension on the transmission and swap to a 2wd drive shaft, but what about the electronics. if i remove the stuff the 4wd light will go on, if i pull the TCCM it will go on- is there anyway to make it so the service 4wd lights dont come on? anything else i should know?

Andrew

Wouldn't it be easier to fix the leak than do all that stuff?

the leak isnt the big deal, i just know its only been about 3000 miles and with these extream angles im going to be dealing with alot of problems with a system i dont use, i want to go to a 4.10 gear but currently dont want to deal with doing gears in the front/and read, and it will be nice to loose the weight of the diff/axles/and Tcase

how about take out the diff, and then put dummys in to hold the wheel bearings together. Pull the front prop shaft and call it a day, I see no point in wasting money and time to pull the case, flash the pcm to 2wd version and all the bullshit to make it 2wd. Would be a cheap and easy way to do it, its up to you tho. Good luck.
