2wd to 4wd ?
#1
I've seen a lot of 4x4 to 2wd but couldn't find any 2wd to 4wd.
Is it possible to change a 2000 2wd rcsb 1500 to a 4x4 with parts off of a 2000 4x4 yukon?
If so, any ideas on how hard it would be useing a 4L80 4x4 tranny?

in a 2wd silverado, the swap is near impossible. ifs is pretty much out of the question. it is possible if you do a front solid axle swap though
i've looked into it in quite depth for my tahoe, which is set up identically. you still need a ton of parts. mainly the pieces that mount to the frame that the front diff mounts to, front diff, cvs, front axle, wiring, transfercase and transmission.
its a ton of work if you want to keep ifs. this is why most people say your better off buying a 4x4 truck. MUCH easier to swap an engine and interior and suspension than fab up that stuff.

The parts that need to be swaped in the front end couldn't be swaped over from the yukon to the 1500? The frame is the same in both right? The electronics to the 4wd wouldnt plug/splice/solder into the computer (or just swap the computer)? Wouldn't HP Tuners be able to copy the 4x4 controls over from the yukon to the truck?
But yes, I agree, I think it would be a Major Pain! Could be a good project though.
