2nd Gear Slip... options?
I've got a 07 ecsb vmax 4x4 with 71k miles lt's, cai, vette servo, transgo hd2, and 33's. About a month ago i started noticing it slipping in second gear only no where else. It all started when i pulled out on the interstate in front of some cars(yes, im very impatient and didnt wanna wait) i pulled out and got the truck straight and punched it and it started spinning and shifted to second and barked the tires during the shift which up to this point it had never done this, i dont know if this had anything to do with my problem or not... but since this i went ahead and dropped the pan and checked everything as far as servo's, apply pistons, and inspected the seperator plate and everything checks out good.. I searched around on here and google and the only things i could find was maybe a cracked apply piston or the epc switch/solenoid. The only codes i'm showing are all related to my rear o2's.. My local tranny guy said it couldnt be the epc switch/solenoid cause i would notice slippage in all gears. He also said that if everything ive checked did look good then most likely its the 2-4 band.. My question is do you guys know of anything else i should check? The 2-4 band wouldn't fail all of a sudden would it? I would think i would notice it over time or something but one day my trans was great and the next its slippin like a **** in 2nd gear... Any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

You could try to tighten up the band some depending on if you have any shims left from the shift kit install. If you are still running the plastic 1-2 accumulator piston I would strongly suggest getting it out of there. The bottom line is if its been slipping in second I'm pretty confident that the band is already hurt and any thing you try to do is just a band aid at this point.

Well that sucks.. Haha looks like I'm pulling a tranny this weekend.. Would you replace the band with a hi-po one or just go back factory? It's not in my budget right now to build the whole trans.
