so fuddle has great customer service...that's good to know, but what makes their product better than the Yank. So far I can get a yank TT2600 for $375 with a higher STR than that of the fuddle and a lower price than that of the fuddle.

I'm not knocking fuddle, but I'm just trying to get somebody to justify the extra dime other than just "customer service"?

 

In the words of John Himself they (fuddle) "Have a two year warranty with no idiot clause" In other words, if you get it, and dont like it he will restall it for free, if you break it for any reason he will fix/replace it. I called him the other day and asked if I would be ok to tow a light load with the converter (I didn't get the towing converter). And he told me it may or may not hold, but if I did tow with it, and it did let go he would replace it.

 

I agree customer service with Fuddle seems to have been very good, but that's not all there is to the equation. Customer service has been getting much better with Yank since their move to Nevada, they have hired people, etc. They answer their phone now and will spend time with you discussing your application. I think they felt the heat and made some good decisions, and we are benefitting as a result.

As far as product, Fuddles have been coming out much looser than the Yanks (at least the TT series) and have been stalling higher than rated. Some people don't care about this, others do. I believe the Fuddles have billet covers and anti-ballooning plates, which the cheaper Yank TT-series converters do not (although their other converters do, like SC's, etc.), this is important in high-horsepower and high-rpm applications.

So it's not exactly cut and dried.

 

Id definatly go 3000. I just got my 3200 Fuddle for my 4wd. It is a little loose right now, but I hear they tighten up after they break in. The warranty policy is great too. If its too loose, or stalls to high, or too low, send it back and he'll fix it for you. Also with the Yank there is a HUGE price jump from the 3000 to the 3200. With the Fuddle you can get whatever you want, same goes for the STR. Also John (Fuddle) rates his STR differently than most, so an actual comparison isnt fair.

 

Colby I went from a 2600 to a 2800-3200 and it was a night and day difference, I would never go back to anything smaller than a 2800, I personally would like to get a fuddle 3200....

 

I personally can't wait till my tranny gets done so I can slap the Vigilante 3000-3200 and see what it will do.

 

if you are going with a simple 2600 then a cheaper yank is good for you but if you want to go anything higher i'd go fuddle because they are good quality not to mention service and also if you decide to get a stronger, different style converter, in the first year fuddle will use 100% of the money you paid for your first converter to go towards the next one so if you bought a 400 dollar one and later wanted the 550 dollar one then you would only have to pay 150 for the new style....plus for the same price you can get stalled from 2200-5500 rather than the BIG increase versus stall increase with yank

 

how long does it take to break in a converter?

It looks like I will go with a 3000......and I am considering the fuddle....

 

colby, this is exactly what happened to me, i thought i did my research and i was about to order a tt3000 from yank and a bunch of people started telling me about fuddle and upon inspection it wasnt too hard to change my mind. about the break in, im not sure how long it takes to get fuddles flash down to where you specified.

 

I was looking at yank because they are on sale. The price can't be beat. but if I'm going to spend $500....
