#1
hey guys got a 2002 silverado 1500 with the electronic t-case
tried to throw in into 4wd the lights did there appropriate change and went to go and we still only had 2 wheels spinning tried doing it in neutral and and even tried going in reverse for a little bit after hitting the button but still nothing, and on a side note before this all happened the cruise control started acting up and has now quit also. please help

If the light on the transfer case select switch indicated that the truck is in 4 wheel drive there are a few things you need to check. With all four wheels off the ground and the truck in 4 wheel drive, put the truck in drive and see if the driveshaft to the front differential is spinning. If it is and the front wheels are not turning there is most likely a problem with the front axle actuator. I have seen a few where the position sensor signals the transfer case control module that it is fully engaged when it is not. Replacing the front axle actuator usually fixes this.
If the front drive shaft and front wheels turn with the truck off the ground, but the fronts don't pull when they are on the ground, then it is likely that the clutch pack in the transfer case is worn out and can not transmit the necessary torque to drive the front wheels. I don't see anything directly connected to the cruise control problem that would cause the four wheel drive problem.

lifted the truck, threw it in 4wd and only the rears turned it made all the sounds of being in 4wd but there was nothing, pulled the actuator and hooked it up in the air and switched from 2wd to 4wd and it moved in and out, so i believe that works unless its weak not sure how much effort it takes to push the coupling or whatever it is that we are trying to actuate in the diff, put a 3/8 drive extension into the hole in the diff and push on the piece by hand could not seem to move it, not sure were to go from here im certain the transfer case isnt the problem its the axle inself that wont shift.
