Default the 2002 lean...help

I read in a truck mag that the problem with the truck leaning to the drivers side was in the front end and was a factory flaw. I am getting ready to lower my truck and want to correct this. What did any of you do to correct this?

Is there a certain coil spring spacer I can put in or certain amount of the right side coil I can trim?

I had this on my wife's Sierra aswell. I just arched the left rear leaf spring up a little and problem solved.

well since the 2wd trucks dont come with torsion bars(cept the VHO).. you have to get a drop shackle on the right rear and some sort of a spacer on top of the driver's side front coil spring. 1" on each opposite corner should do the trick, but everyone's truck is a little different.

I wish the gas tank was on the passenger side. Maybe that would help balance the truck out and this problem wouldn't occur!?!

the problem is with the front end. while you can fix the problem with rear shackle adjustments, I would suggest fixing the front end, since that is where the problem is.

GM has a TSB specifically for this issue. Any GM dealer will fix this for free by installing a rubber spacer on the left front coil.

I would suggest cutting a 1/4-1/2 from the front right coil. This will even out the lean.

Use a cut-off wheel, of a saw. Do not use a torch as this will ruin the spring.

On my 1500HD both the front and the rear needed to be adjusted. I have keys up front so I raised the left front to level the front out and the rear was still sagging. When I put in my McGaughys 3/5 drop I used the top hole on the right side shackle and the bottom hole on the left side shackle and that pretty much did the trick.

It is probably a better idea to put a spacer under the left side spring to level out the front. That way it is reversible and no risk of ruining a spring or changing spring rates from one side to the other.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to ask the local dealer about the TSB.
