Default 2001 silverado making ticking noise

I have a 2001 silverado 4 wheel drive and it makes this ticking noise it seems more defined from drivers side floorboard area. It only makes the noise when its in gear and your on the gas. If i put the truck in nuetral and rev it up it doesnt make the noise and also it doesnt matter whether its in 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. I guess in a way it sounds like its spark rattling (maybe another name for that) but its not quite the same noise cause i do have to run high test in it cause it does that so bad. I thought at first it sounded like an exhaust leak but if that were the case it would do that whether its in gear or not. One other thing to note it does have a factory gm rebuilt transmission in it. i guess im just at a loss here cause i cant figure out what it might be since it only does it when your on the gas. Any help or suggestions is greatly appriciated.
