Because of the shape and size of the NBS 9.5" flange and the way the flange is rotated on the axle, I didn't want to guess how to create a special flange for disc or drum setups. This allows both braking systems, it allows you to choose various places to bolt the adapter to, it is easier to align, and it was simpler to design. I am not a welder or a machinist and this was the easiest way to do it for me.

Because of the size, shape, and the way the flange is rotated on the axle, it would be hard to locate the correct location of where the flange should be drilled to use longer bolts and a flange.

With this adapter, you would only need the adapter,5 bolts, 5 nuts, drill 4 holes, and clearance the NBS 9.5" flange, and to align the adapter to the correct stock orientation of your year truck.

Fair enough...but you don't really have to turn the flange to run discs...just the caliper will be on the bottom without rotating it, everything will still fit fine

True. Because the flange of the NBS 9.5" was trapzoid in shape, large, and rotated on the axle tube it seemed an easy way to have some one make it and it allowed me to mount the plate to see what issues there would be. One issue is, out of the 4 holes you need to bolt on the brake system, either the disc or the drum, one of the holes would not have anything to bolt to because the flange is rotated on the NBS 9.5" axle tube. So having eight gives you the opportunity to use an adjacent hole next to the one you couldn't use. The one you couldn't use still can be used for mounting the brake hardware, but wouldn't be good to mount the 8 hole adapter to the NBS 9.5" flange.

On a drum brake rear, there isn't an option to mount the wheel cylinder at an angle, so this design keeps the wheel cylinder at the 12 o clock position, but also allows you to bolt on the disc brake in the original position.

Compared to the NBS 9.5" flange the 8 point adapter plate is small and except for the extra 4 holes it is the same diameter corner to corner as the 8.5" axle flange. If you think about it, the only additional material is the tabs for the 4 extra bolt holes. Not alot if you consider most of the metal is already on a regular 4 hole flange.

Well, I am a little confused but I am sure once I see it or a picture of the Bracket, I will better understand what you are saying. I am still in for the final result.

I know the brake bolt pattern on the light duty 2500 9.5 is different and I know you said you need a spacer so theoretically it sounds like it would work.

So did you make these on your own or did you have some one machine them for you???

Let me see if I can get some pictures together. It won't be a completed product, but you will hopefully have a better understanding how it should come together.

Sorry. I have been busy with a newborn baby and have not had time to get out to my shop. I haven't forgot about this. I just haven't had time.
