Default 2000 Silverado 1500 4 WD light flashing

The 4 WD light is flashing when pushed but then returns to 2 WD. Had it to a shop and it was scanned with no codes present. The transfer case motor is working and engaging the driveshaft but it is not sending a signal to the front differential actuator to engage. Anyone know where the actuator gets it's signal from?

Thank you

What transfer case do you have? Push button TC case or the AutoTrac TC?

@arthursc2 is your man for 4x4 related stuff. Hopefully he can chime in.

I've got a 4x4 wiring diagram for a SUV, but it's for the AutoTrac and I can't even find it at the moment :-(

That's probably a transfer case encoder motor problem. Most likely the encoder part. That's what usually goes bad.

You can replace just the encoder and it will probably fix it. That part is quite a bit less $$$ than the whole motor. Surest way though, is change out the whole motor.
