Default 2 piece driveshaft 05 ccsb

got a 2005 silverado crew cab with a 4 7 with helpers. my 1 piece shaft hits every now and then and is a little to close for comfort for me. so i wanna swap a 2 piece. now i know i need to turn the evap canister sideways, and make my own cross member. what i dont understand is pinion angle on a 2 piece. from what i understand, the first shaft is just an extension of the transmission? so id assume this needs to just be level with the tailshaft of the transmission correct? what i dont understand is what to do with the pinion angle on the rear shaft? can really find much info on the swap so if anyone can link me to a thread, thatd be great.

From what I understand, if the first shaft is inline with the transmission, point the rear axle at the same angle as the transmission. If the first shaft is at a different angle than the transmission ( within 1.5 degrees for a working angle for u joints) point the rear axle in line with the first drive shaft.

When I built my crossmember I used 2 degrees from the transmission to the first shaft. 2 degrees from the 2nd shaft at the carrier to the rear and set the pinion angle for my rear end to 5 degrees. Everything worked great and I put about 8-9k miles on it without any issues. I found some information from Car Craft but the most helpful resource was this link: http://www2.dana.com/pdf/J3311-1-DSSP.pdf
BTW Nice crew cab..

i havent really ever worked on a 2 piece. is there 2 joints and a carrier or 3 joints and a carrier? setting the front driveshaft angle will be based on how high the carrier bearing is correct? ive messed with plenty of suspension but never mess with pinion angle lol.

If you search around in this section there's a pretty good drawing and explanation on setting up 2pc angles.
