1999 4.3 4l60e (nbs)
I am looking for some input on this situation. My 4L60E took a dump today on the way home from the gym. Does anyone have an answer to these questions below:
1) Will any year 1999-2007 4l60E work if I use my current torque converter?
2) Is the trans and torque converter the same on any 4300/4l60E so I could use something out of a S10/Jimmy/Blazer/Sonoma?
3) My speedo is pinned passed 100, I have no reverse, my truck would not want to shift out of first. The truck went to downshift and it just clunked really loud an a whirring noise started happening. Is it safe to say my trans has been mechanically broken in some way?

Don't quote me here but I thought the bell housing on a 4.3 is different and so is the torque converter because the input shaft is a different size compared to a V8 truck.
So finding a 4.3/4L60e from 1999+ would be ideal. I'd question your current torque converter because it was in the transmission that died, something could be in it and cause harm to the "new" transmission. I'd just buy a new converter because they aren't a ton of money.

EDIT: The bell housing is different on the NBS 1500 4.3 than the S10 4L60E. The S10 4L60E uses the older style housing where there is no top bolt and there are 3 bottom bolts. I just got back from the junkyard.
If you are going to swap your 4.3 Silverado/Sierra 4L60E, make sure you have the LS style 4L60E.
