Default 14 bolt SF - 8 lug swap to 6 lug ?'s

I've been asking all over the place for info on the '00 GMC in my sig. What is needed to convert my 8 lug 14 bolt SF w/ disc brakes over to a 6 lug. I know there are good looking 8 lug wheels out there but I would like to convert everything to 6 lug ton and run a set of 5 spoke LTZ's. Is this as simple as locating 6 lug shafts or is this a pipe dream? I might have to settle on just replacing the springs w/ ones from a 1500 and keep the 8 lug pattern...then maybe someday find a totalled 2500HD 4X4 and do a body swap. Who knows.

Thanks for any help.

Even though it isn't a HD, I think the frame is still pretty different. I think your going to have a lot of issues trying to convert it over to a 6 lug truck.

all you have to do is swap the axles. the 6 lug and 8 lug are both 33 spline axles. make sure both sets of axles are from a 4x4 (assuming you have a 4x4)

I'm guessing I'd have the best luck looking for these axles in a wrecked Suburban or Avalanche.

I'm not very familiar with all that is interchangeable in axles so here's another stupid question...would it matter if the axles came from a truck with drum brakes?

So if I found a 14 bolt with disk brakes, all I would have to do is swap the axles to make that rear end a 6 lug.

Anyone out there that would post/PM me a VIN from a 06-07 classic 2wd VMAX? Just looking to get the part # for the axle shafts.
