No not at all. Its just a semester long project. I might have to fudge some dimensions.

I'm actually building it so it would be a direct swap for my truck. 2003 silverado 1500.

The demensions on the 99-07 classic GMT 800 plat forum are basically the same. You have a couple options for housings.

I like the 99-07 1500HD 2500LD 14 bolt 9.5 Option. They were 8 lug from the factory. You you can order 2 new axles for a 88-98 4x4 with 6Lug and swap them right in. The only thing you have to do is lower the Leaf perch or replace it with a new one and replace the factory brake flange with a custom made one. The shock mounts and everything else are correct already so no need to hack them all up.

See EvilGMC's Build.

Wow, that guy did some great work.

Can you make some brake flange spacers instead of welding them in a couple inches?

Thank You!!! I modified that rear end. The problem is the bolt pattern for the HD brakes are different from standard 1500 brakes. also we wanted the correct orintation for the brakes so the looked correct visualy.

So I got the axles and lugs built to spec and I have moved on to the housing. Has anyone ever seen dimensions for the inside of the housing cover? Also I'm looking around to see how long the larger diameter axle tubes are that connect to the housing. I know that explanation sucked so check out the attached pic. Either of the two dimensions will work. Thanks

I scoured the internets (even deeper than the usual google search) for the same thing so I could whip up a panhard style 4 link in solidworks. My conclusion was, IF someone has the files, they aren't sharing.
