Looking through the tables in hptuners there is a tu/td menu for serial or hardware(or something) grabted makes no sense because my truck is an 08 with a 4l60e but the ecm has 6 speed tables and everything already in it...

Here's the deal on retrofitting TUTD on a GMT900, based upon what I have researched and gotten back from customers. Yes, the BCM control the actual actuation of the TCM's TUTD shifts. Everything to retrofit is an available GM part, but a pain. At the minimum you'll need the TUTD shifter, a new harness between the shifter and BCM that requires the lower part of the dash to be pulled apart (at a minimum), BCM reprogram, instrument panel reprogram, and apparently a possible re-pin of the BCM because that particular pin is open on non TUTD vehicle's harnesses.
The TCM's Operating System (OS) determines what the expected TCM ohm reading is. Corvette OS/expected Ohm signals are different than Denali, different than G8, etc. By the same token, each TCM OS is not necessarily compatible with every ECM OS. So if you think you can just drop a Corvette OS in the TCM , be prepared to lose certain functionalities. By the same token, so long as you can figure out what a particular OS's activation ohms are, you can install an inline resistor system directly from the shifter to the TCM and have a TUTD.

I am just finishing up this swap and was able to get the TUTD to work. Like TrueBlue said, you need a new shifter and a BCM reflash. I would help to get the cluster reprogrammed to PRNDM but it will still work with PRND321. I did lose my remote start, so that is my next step in this process.

Nice! So you just put a different VIN in for the BCM reflash and used your original BCM? Or did you have to get a new BCM? What VIN did you use and what is your truck? (Silverado, Tahoe, lt, ltz, 4x4. That sort of thing)
Is your check engine light on? The remote start won't work if the check engine light is on. Hopefully that's your only problem!
Thanks,
Branden

I have a 2wd 1500 silverado. So I was able to just reprogram my bcm using the vin from a 2500 silverado. I did a write up in the GMT900 section. After I did the reprogramming it took a couple of minutes for the TUTD function to start working.
As for the remote start, I lost it because the bcm isn't programmed with it. When I look at it with a tech 2 I see the lock/unlock/and start buttons all being recognized. Just no starting. It is a small price to pay right now. I will look it trying to fix it later.
