Default 06 denali Trans into 03 denali? Help

Long story short, my motor blew up in my 2006 sierra denali, so I bought a 6.2 that's getting a few healthy upgrades and want to stick a 4l80e in it.

My 03 yukon denali has a bad Trans so I'm wondering if I can take the transmission out of my 06 and put it into my 03? I thought so but was told by a transmission shop there aren't the same?

They are the same... I dont see a problem with it.

Oddly enough some auto parts stores have the 05-07 sierra denali classic in their system as having a 4L80e... i have tried to tell them its not correct but then I lose all credibility when I buy 4L80e parts... lol

Sometime in '05, the ISS (input speed sensor) was introduced. If you are going from the '06 to the '03, it should work since there isn't an ISS on the '03.

Haha sounds about right. Funny going in there buying ls3 parts when I tell them it's a sierra. How was your 80 swap? It seems a pain in the *** lol

I disagree.

The ISS was introduced in early '05 and can be found in the '06 TBSS.

The TBSS uses a different traction control system. The trans in the 06 SD is no different than the old ones. The TBSS uses the 4L70e. Some vortec max trucks use the 70e as well... but the Denali was always the 65e as far as I know. I believe the difference you are referring to is the 70e.

05-06 have the hole in the stator shaft for the iss but its plugged because it doesn't use it..only the 07+ models use it 07-08 models have the same wiring as a 99-06 except they have an extra sensor witch is the input speed sensor it connects to the pump and reads off the input shaft..07+ models all use the same input shaft with the reluctor on it
