I have 93000 miles on my origional 2001 pads and rotors with no problems and still have about 4mm before the wear indicators. The truck stops fine and brake pedal feels good to me. I dont like drum brakes because they wear out too fast and always need adjusting. Unless GM has improoved their drum brakes significantly from what they used to be I'l be sticking to disc. Not trying to talk bad about the new brakes but time will tell how well it works.

Mt truck had 128,000 miles on it when I did its first brake job and the truck lived in Alabama where the roads SUCK by my personnal experience so the disc/disc setup as far as pad life is concerned they are great IMO. As far as pedal feel goes they seemed squishy to me but they stoppped my truck. I changed out the brake fluid in the whole system and it was like a new truck. I would like to know if the 05 front setup could be retrofitted to the older style brake system.
