Default 03 Yukon Denali Awd To 4x4 Question

Hello, I’ve been having problems with cracking my front differential and left stranded on the side of the road. I have a NP261 manual shift transfer case laying around that I want to swap in. My question is do I need to swap to a 4x4 actuated front diff or can I leave my awd diff in place. I want to keep it 2wd for about 99% of the time.I never go off road, but I do go to the snow once a year and never really needed awd and when I did I got stuck had to pull my abs fuse to get unstuck do to the traction control system with braking.

Where/when/why does it crack?

My trucks too low and causes axles to bind over time and they eventually break taking the front diff with them as well. I already tried axle spacers and adjustable cv axles with no luck.
