hey I'm new to this forum but i was wondering if any body has any information on the 1500HD... i have a 2003 1500HD LS and for some odd reason the VIN # doesn't match any of the actual mechanical parts that should be on the truck the frame is for a 1500HD but as to the rest of the suspension is too a 3500 as far as the parts people at the dealership that i deal with are concerned for example in there computer system it says i should have a vacuum booster when i have a hydro booster so i was just wonder that if at some point in time chev built a "super" heavy duty 1500

 

Well, a 1500HD is mechanically identical to a 2500LD of the same year. Chevy just used it to bring in the Crew Cab body style. It's essentially just a 1500 in name. So your truck should have all of the normal things a 2500 has. Such as the hydroboost system, 9.25" IFS if 4wd, 9.5" 14 bolt SF, and the 6.0/4l80E. Maybe the dealership just doesn't know what they're talking about?

 

it just seemed kinda weird to me that all the 3500 parts all bolted up perfectly but i do know for a fact that it came from the dealership with 285/75/16's and it never had the normal GM 4x4 decal there black and pewter
