00 camaro trans fit 01 silverado
#1
I've searched an can not find the answer I'm lookin for. My question is will a 2000 camaro z28 ls1 4l60e trans fit in my 2001 silverado 1500 2wd. Does the tailend mount different? Can I just swap the tailend with the one that's on the truck now? If the car one is different?
Any info greatly appreciated.

I can't be 100% certain, but maybe someone can give u a more definite answer than what I'm gonna say.
I do know if it was an LT1 tranny it differs from LS style, but after that, I can't be sure if it's a different length tailshaft housing.
What I'd do to rule out that uncertainty is, measure from flange where it meets main tranny housing to where it ends (by tailshaft seal) on your truck. Get Camaro dimensions, then go from there.

Verify the Bell housing has the same part number cast into on both transmissions. I believe there may have been a few variations depending on application. The LS1 and LS based ruck application should be the same.
When you put the converter in make sure it is seated all the way first before bolting it up and then check your gap to the fly wheel once it is installed. there is a sticky at the top about how the Torque converter should be engaged and what type of gap you should have when done properly. If you can not pull the converter back at all don't tighten the bolts from the trans case to the engine as you can damage the pump.

The M30 code 4L60E is the same between the LS based truck and the LS1 Camaro. The fact that the years are so close are even better. there were minor changes internally but nothing major. The planetaries are 4 pinion in the cars and trucks with the M30 code 4L60E.
The M32 found in the SS, VHO, V-MAX, Escalade, Denali's had 5 pinion planetaries front and rear. This is referred to as the 4L65E which also had a few minor internal changes.
There was no 3 pinion planetary in the front or rear of either version of this transmission.
